Ponderosa Marching Band
The Ponderosa Marching Band has a long and successful tradition in the
state of Colorado having captured nine state championships in three
different school classifications since the school first opened in 1983.

This year the marching band field show is titled, “Mirror Images.” Music
for the show centers around Bulgarian Folk melodies. The band is led on
the field by Drum Majors, Macquel Keicher and Kari Anderson. Additional
staff members include Brian Graham, Adrienne Hayes, Gary Russell, and
Reuben Roybal (Percussion) Joseph Berry and Kelly Jones (Color Guard) and
Jeff Sobeck (Visual).

Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is the most advanced of the concert bands offered at Ponderosa, and is open to student’s grades 10-12 by audition only. The Wind Ensemble is a very active performing ensemble, and has developed a reputation as one of the finest performing groups in the state. All students in the Wind Ensemble also participate in the PHS Marching Band.

The Concert Band is open to students in grades 9-12, and is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to continue their participation in Band at the High School level. Students are encouraged to also participate in the Marching Band but not required. Previous participation in Band is required for participation in Concert Band.

Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Ensemble is open to students in grades 10-12 by audition only, and focuses on the study and performance of jazz. Participation in the PHS Marching Band, while not required, is strongly encouraged for members of the Jazz Ensemble. Students that participate in the Jazz Band are also encouraged to participate in a concert band, the classes that the state recognizes as core subjects.
